Here are a few simple tips as to why you should invest in some great - sustainable and long lasting custom made furniture versus just buying the cheap and boring deals you’ve always been buying.

Whenever we are working on a project, we always have to ask ourselves if the project is at it’s best potential through a custom made furniture solution or not. This is a decision that can been made early on, especially when we are talking about small spaces.

The idea of creating a custom made project focuses on answering the clients desires and needs, eliminating anything that is unnecessary. We build something from scratch. Through this process we are able to define the exact use and the kind of material that is most suited for this. Forms and dimensions have no limitation which result is a totally unique space.

Another great way to be sustainable and to have a unique project is by using all natural materials. Nature is always the best inspiration and the best designer. We can design a certain piece by using stone, and it will always be different. It will have a unique texture, a certain veining, different shades and it will figure as a unique piece.

Here are a few advantages to consider:

 1. Maximize a tight space.

Clearly a small space can greatly benefit of a well designed piece of built-in furniture. When space is limited, you should consider designing furniture that serves multiple functions.  You should find pieces that fit perfectly in order to prevent any loss of square footage and seek the smartest solutions in dividing your space.

2. Define spaces without using walls.

A great way to create a division of spaces in your studio apartment is by placing a bult in bookshelf that defines your sleeping area from your living area. Who says you need a wall? Built in furniture can be placed in certain ways that can redefine the zoning of your home.

3. Fully leverage your awkward corners.

Consider using custom made solutions if you have an awkward shape type of apartment. Corners can be tough to deal with and buying your standard furniture will only create a more fragmented look.

Never waste precious space, you will be surprised how much more room you can get by integrating the awkward corners into your design and the results can actually be quite unique. Integrating storage or seating are just a few of the examples.

4. Storage!

Nobody ever complained of having too much storage! Built- in furniture is the best way to maximize your storage problems. You can design a space-efficient storage system tailored to your needs and place it in places that would otherwise be left empty

5. Create a space that reflects your personality.

If you have a hobby and want to display your passion, you should work on creating a custom piece of furniture  that displays your interests, something only you have and something that you know you love. Use custom made furniture to help you express yourself and the overall design of your home

6. Frame your focus

Using bult- in furniture can be a great way to emphasize the focus of your room. Let’s say you have an amazing view of the mountains or of the beach, frame it! The attention of whoever enters the room will immediately be drawn towards that point and framing the focus will add significance to your view.

Wood remains the material of preference when building custom made furniture: it is low-maintenance, durable and produces natural oils that protect it against rot and deterioration. The wood usually come from oak, pine, cedar and teak trees.

Other great materials that can be used could be aluminum or stainless steel, which can easily be used for indoor and outdoor furniture and is an economical choice.

Fiberglass or moulded plastic are also great solutions and new materials, they are very strong, durable and waterproof.

We have been working on some exciting custom-made furniture projects between New York City and Milan, our carpenters and us would be thrilled to design the space that suits your needs, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
